The Spanish Raw Peanut is a species of the legume family and is native to Mexico, Central America, and South America. The plant grows to an average height of 1 to 1.5 feet. The Spanish Peanut is very high in oil compared to other peanuts. Today the Spanish Peanut is most commonly grown in Texas and Oklahoma. The plant produces fruit which then turns into a legume and is forced underground to mature. When underground and during maturity the commonly known peanut is produced, making it an earth nut.
